I need you, you need me
we're all a part of God's body
stand with me, agree with me
we're all a part of God's body
It is his will that every need be supplied
you are important to me
I need you to survive

This is a song that I sang in gospel choir last year (if you want to hear it, i've included a link). I was just thinking about the lyrics and how true this is. In the body of Christ, we literally need eachother to survive. A lone christian does not exist. There may be some seasons in which a believer must be physically separated from other believers, but this is the exception, not the rule. And even in this physical separation we are still connected through prayer for one another.
When we are born again, we are not only born to know the father---we are also born into a family with many brothers and sisters. We are called to share every part of life with our family: joy and grief, work and play, food and even physical belongings.
My time in a foreign country has been very difficult at times, and i have experienced some very intense times of loneliness and isolation. Firstly i know I must look to God, and know that he is the source of love and acceptance. But secondly, i'm also learning that we are not supposed to deal or cope with these kinds of struggles alone---we are called to "bear one another's burdens"--which means sharing your own burdens too, not just the burdens of others. We need to continually encourage eachother in the faith, loving on eachother, showing eachother affection and care, encouraging eachother to persevere and reminding eachother of our purpose in Christ.
It is God's will that every need be supplied--and a large part of how God wants to supply our needs is through the love, prayer, support, and generosity which we show eachother.
Hey Scarlet,
ReplyDeleteThank you for talking with me last night! I love you! We need eachother. No joke. This life is a battle. Things are not what they seem. Stand firm and take courage, Beloved sister.
